Project Description: |
The City of Palmetto intends to perform an Inflow and Infiltration study to determine any issues or concerns and facilitate necessary repairs to the collection system and to reduce the amount of undesirable flow into the wastewater treatment facility. The City currently has fifty-two (52) miles of infrastructure and twenty-two hundred (2200) manholes of which the city anticipates twenty-six (26) miles of infrastructure and eleven hundred (1100) manholes are in need of repair.
The proposed system improvements will include point repairs, lining and replacement of the existing collection system. The intent of the City is to ensure the existing collection system is free of leaks and therefore realize a reduction in flow at the wastewater treatment plant.
The anticipated reduction in flow will reduce the cost to the end customer and free existing capacity for new connections. The project will proceed in phases. Phase one will consist of evaluation the system within the Community Revitalization Area (CRA) to identify, quantify and classify any needed repairs. The expected cost of phase one is $132,000. The second phase will develop a planning document around the field data from phase one at an estimated cost of $264,000. The third phase includes any necessary engineering and permitting as identified in the planning document at an estimated cost of $924,000. Forth phase will consist of constructing the necessary improvements and repairs to the collection system to reduce I&I.
