| Project Description: |
| The Suspension Termination Opportunity Program is an out-of-school suspension program that provides academic support and counseling services to children who are suspended from school, in a safe and secure environment to migrate against repeat suspensions, school dropouts and juvenile delinquency. |

| Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
| Children who are suspended from school more likely fall behind in their schoolwork, thus making them candidates for further suspensions, retention, expulsions and/or dropping out of school altogether. Children who do not attend school regularly have much greater opportunity of becoming involved in delinquent activity during school hours. Those who do not end up in jail often end up abusing drugs with their peers. The STOP Program addresses the reasons why the child was suspended as well as provides the necessary assistance and encouragement to continue in school uninterrupted and become a model citizen of the community. |
