| Project Description: |
| Submitted for inclusion in the 2007-2008 FDOT Work Program under the Small County Road Assistance Program. Only 23 projects have currently received funding under this program. The FDOT estimate of $99,000 per lane mile for this project reflects Holmes County�s request for $3,623,400 to resurface 36.6 lane miles. CR 173 North has become an extremely heavily trafficked thoroughfare from Holmes County to the northern states of Alabama and Georgia. CR 173 North has been seeing a significant increase in logging and freight traffic, which has chosen this route, rather than travel Hwy 231. Although this roadway in Holmes County has aided in relieving the congestion on Hwy 231, Holmes County does not have the resources to repair the worsening problems on this hazardous thoroughfare. |
