| Project Description: |
| In July, 2000, the Office of Greenways and Trails proposed that the site be expanded to include a �world-class� bass tournament fishing park, as well as facilities for hikers, campers, and birdwatchers. A set of blueprints and plans were drafted for the purpose of designing a park to include parking for 200 vehicles and boat trailers, a covered pavilion with rest rooms and a registration room, a four-lane staging area leading to a four-lane boat ramp, spectator stand, a covered weigh-in station, a camping area and RV park site with hood-ups. The estimated price tag for the park was $3 million in 2000. the project was removed from the budget and was not funded, with the exception of the visitor center. |

| Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
| The proposed campground, RV Park and trail hub would serve as a recreational area for local residents of northeast Florida as well as promoting tourism. It is anticipated that 35 to 40 annual fishing tournaments would be held at the site, thus adding a significant infusion of additional dollars into the local economy. To provide facilities for multi-recreational usage, expand and enhance an on-going blueways and greenways program and utilize an already established, potentially underused, property. |
