Project Description:
The City plans to implement an inflow and infiltration program to reduce the amount of undesirable flow at the wastewater treatment plant. This reduction is flow will reduce the cost to the end customer and free existing capacity for new connections. The project will proceed in phases. Phase one will consist of evaluation the system to identify, quantify and classify any needed repairs to approximately 25% of the existing collection system to total 25 miles of pipe. The expected cost of phase one is $132,000. The second phase will develop a planning document around the field data from phase one at an estimated cost of $264,000. The third phase includes any necessary engineering and permitting as identified in the planning document at an estimated cost of $924,000. Forth phase will consist of constructing the necessary improvements and repairs to the collection system to reduce I&I.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The City expects phase one of this project will identify, quantify and classify areas of the collection system that are in need of repairs. The end result of this program will be a reduction of flow to the wastewater treatment and disposal facilities. This reduction in I&I will free existing capacity at the wastewater treatment facility and lessen the need for a plant upgrade in the future.
