Statewide Interest:
The Juvenile Delinqency Diversionary Neighborhood Accountability Intervention Initiative has statewide interest due to the intensified and increased juvenile violent crime in Florida's communities. This initiative will establish multiple collaboratives that provide communities with the means to effectively interdict delinquent behaviours and reduce juvenile crime utilizing cost effective strategies, contrary to more expensive deep-end delinquency placements. The effectiveness of this initiative is based upon an emphasis on increased community volunteerism, realignment of youth and families residing in high crime neighborhoods to improve quality of life and thus increase public safety.

Project Description:
The Juvenile Delinquency Diversionary Neighborhood Accountability Intervention Initiative has statewide interest due to the intensified and increased juvenile violent crime in Florida's communities. This initiative will establish multiple collaboratives that provide communities with the means to effectively interdict delinquent behaviors and reduce juvenile crime utilizing cost effective strategies, contrary to more expensive deep-end delinquency placements. The effectiveness of this initiative is based upon an emphasis on increased community volunteerism, realignment of existing resources, fast-track accountability for youthful offenders, and character development competency (skill) development of youth and families residing in high crime neighborhoods to improve quality of life and thus increase public safety.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The measurable outcome will be that; 1)Two Hundred & Eighty (280) youth and/or units of family/guardians will be served throughout the fiscal year 08-09. 2)One Hundred percent (100%) of youth will be assessed based on identified risk factors. 3)Seventy percent (70%) of youth will not be referred to the judicial system within one year of receiving services. 4)Fifty percent (50%) of all program participates will have parent/guardian/Significant Adult Mentor involvement.
