Project Description: |
The City of Wauchula, like the rest of Hardee County, is part of a State of Florida designated area of critical economic concern. Among the various factors suppressing the City's opportunity for economic recovery from the devastating impact of the 2004/05 Hurricane seasons is the need for expanded wastewater treatment capacity. This project will increase the City's current wastewater treatment capacity from 1 MGD to 3 MGD. The expansion will also include the development of a limited supply of public access reuse for agricultural purposes. In support of these efforts and in order to comply with FDEP rule 62-600.405 F.A.C.. the city is proceeding with this proposed plant expansion and has executed and submitted a loan agreement to FDEP for SRF pre-construction funding. This project also includes purchase of land critical to the expansion. |
