Sponsors: Joyner

Statewide Interest:
DACCO Substance Abuse Assessment and Treatment for Adolescents and their families: The Choices program provides screening and assessment of youth (ages 12 through 17) and placement into an evidence-based outpatient treatment program. The outpatient treatment program is comprised of two evidence-based curricula: Creating a Responsible Thinker (CART) or Cannabis Youth Treatment (CYT). Both parents and adolescents participate in the program while the treatment component addresses youth who are using drugs. Adolescents and families served in the program are referred from the schools, Juvenile Drug Court, Department of Juvenile Justice and Juvenile Arbitration as well as other community agencies. Treatment access without this program is more than 35 miles away, prohibiting adolescent treatment and family access. This program is currently operational and full.
