Project Description:
About 700 of Miami-Dade Countys ~2650 traffic signal control-cabinets are 15 to 25 years old, are increasingly difficult to maintain, and do not meet current specifications. When one of their components fail, it cannot simply be replaced with standard off-the-shelf equipment. Instead, they must be brought into the repair shop for repair or for the development of a replacement. This effort t results in the traffic signals that were previously controlled by the non-standard control-cabinet being off-system for about one week per occurrence, a situation whish is very detrimental to traffic flow.
