The bill tolls the statute of limitations for the offense of failing to make a mandatory report for known or suspected child abuse, including sexual abuse, abandonment, and neglect until a law enforcement agency or other governmental agency, excluding any institution where the violation occurs, is made aware of the violation. The bill applies to any offense that is not otherwise barred from prosecution on or before July 1, 2026.

 

If approved by the Governor, or allowed to become law without the Governor's signature, these provisions take effect on July 1, 2026.
