SB 2712: Mentally Ill Defendants
GENERAL BILL by Crist
Mentally Ill Defendants; authorizes finding of guilty but mentally ill for certain criminal defendants; provides burdens of proof; provides conditions for acceptance of plea of guilty but mentally ill; permits defendants to withdraw pleas of guilty but mentally ill if judge refuses to accept such plea; provides that if such plea is withdrawn & right to jury trial is waived, a different judge must preside at trial, etc. Amends Chs. 916, 921; creates 775.028.
