SB 1636: Protection of Farm Animals
GENERAL BILL by Bennett
Protection of Farm Animals; Prohibits a farm owner or operator from tethering or confining certain specified covered farm animals in a specified manner. Provides exceptions. Authorizes the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services or the Attorney General to bring a civil action against a farm owner or operator to restrain any act or practice that illegally tethers or confines a covered farm animal. Rejects certain defenses against civil actions. Provides that the act is in addition to any other law protecting animal welfare, etc.
