HB 815: Employment Discrimination Against the Unemployed

GENERAL BILL by Reed

Employment Discrimination Against the Unemployed; Creates "Fair Employment Opportunity Act"; prohibits employer from refusing to consider or offer employment because person is or was unemployed; prohibits advertisement or announcement which states or indicates that unemployed person is disqualified; prohibits employer from directing or requesting employment agency to take person's status as unemployed into account; prohibits employment agency from refusing to consider or refer person based on person's status as unemployed; prohibits employment agency advertisement or announcement for job vacancy which states or indicates that unemployed person is disqualified; prohibits employment agency from limiting person's access to information about jobs or referral because person is or was unemployed; prohibits employer or agency from discriminating against person because person engaged in certain lawful activities; provides exception; authorizes civil action by AG; provides that damages recovered accrue to injured party.
