GENERAL BILL by Jones, M. ; (CO-INTRODUCERS) Pigman
Health Care Coverage; Requires health insurers, corporations, & HMOs issuing certain health policies to provide coverage for telemedicine services; prohibits exclusion of telemedicine cost coverage solely because services were not provided face to face; specifies conditions under which insurer, corporation, or HMO must reimburse telemedicine provider for fees & costs; authorizes provisions requiring deductible, copayment, or coinsurance requirement for telemedicine services; prohibits imposition of dollar & durational coverage limitations or copayments, coinsurance, or deductibles on telemedicine services unless imposed equally on all terms & services; requires utilization review; provides coverage under state plan or waiver for health home services provided to eligible individuals with chronic conditions; requires DOH to conduct interagency study relating to telemedicine services & coverage; requires report; authorizes DOH to adopt rules in consultation with certain boards to implement act; authorizes rules to allow consultation with certain out-of-state health care practitioners & professionals.
