Interpreters for Persons who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing; Creates Board of Interpreters for Deaf and Hard of Hearing; requires interpreter to apply for license or permit by specified date; requires DBPR to issue licenses, permits, or provisional permits; requires background checks; provides continuing education requirements; requires interpreting agency to register with DBPR; requires individual to elect active or inactive status at time of license or permit renewal; requires DBPR to charge fees; authorizes board to earmark specific amount from such fees; authorizes Legislature to appropriate excess funds; prohibits certain actions by individuals & entities; authorizes board to discipline individuals; requires board & DBPR to adopt rules.
