Project Description:

The University Area Community Human & Health Services Center was created in 1994 as part of the federal Weed & Seed program to bring different human and social service agencies and programs to a central location in an area with the highest rates of crime, drug abuse, unemployment, illiteracy and infant mortaility, and single mothers in Hillsborough County.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

The current facility does not meet federal ADA standards, and is not of sufficient size to adequately serve the over 40,000 at-risk residents of the University Area Community. Funds will be matched locally to complete the human services center portion of the facility at the same times as the health services center portion, thereby saving up to $1,000,000 in construction costs by pooling resources and sharing common areas. The new facility will meet all ADA standards while serving the space and security needs of the various service agencies.
