THE BASIN HAS BEEN DESIGNATED BY THE GOVERNING BOARD OF THE ST. JOHNS RIVER MANAGMENT DISTRICT AS A PRIORITY SURFACE WATER IMPROVEMNET AND MANAGMENT (SWIM) WATERSHED. THE BASIN CONTAINS WATER BODIES OF SIGNIFIGANCE TO THE STATE SUCH AS ECONLOCKHATCHEE RIVER, THE WEKIVA RIVER, LAKES; JESSUP, HARNEY, AND MONROE. THE BASIN ALSO ENCOMPASES A MAJOR BLACK BEAR CORRIDOR TO THE OCALA NATIONAL FOREST.

THE MIDDLE ST. JOHNS RIVER BASIN IS AN ONGOING PROJECT TO RESTORE AND ENHANCE THE MIDDLE ST. JOHNS RIVER AND IT'S TRIBUTARIES. THE BASIN IS AN AREA WHERE POPULATION AND WATER USE ARE EXPECTED TO GROW. FUNDING THROUGH THIS INITIATIVE WILL HELP RESTORE AND ENHANCE THIS PORTION OF THE RIVER AND IT'S LAKES AND TRIBUTARIES. EXAMPLES OF SUBPROJECTS THAT COULD BE FUNDED THROUGH THIS REQUEST FOLLOW. THIS IS AN ALPHABEICAL ORDER AND NOT A COMPLETE LISTING
