Project Description:

Restore funding for the Florida Enterprise Zone Act which provides an annual match of $225,000 each year for eight years to match the Federal designation for the Round II designated Rural Enterprise Community. The Empowerment Alliance of Southwest Florida includes the Immokalee Community, eastern Hendry County and the Seminole Indian Reservation of Big Cypress and Immokalee.� This rural area of the State has suffered from pervasive poverty and was awarded the designation as a Rural Enterprise Community (the only one in Round II in the State) with a Strategic Plan to promote community development and economic revitalization for this rural area.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

This past year and a half, the Empowerment Alliance of SW Florida has been able to leverage $28 million dollars of other state, federal and private funding due to staff resources and match funding this resource provides.
