The project will serve the following goals: Improved health care services including, but not limited to prevention and treatment services for substance abuse clients Improved access to community-based treatment alternatives Improved health and social service infrastructure Reduction of child abuse and neglect���� Improved health status for children, elders, minorities and immigrants To improve parent, school and community involvement in the reduction of youth alcohol, tobacco and other drug-use that will help Florida raise healthier drug-free children. � Informed Families of Florida is the only Universal Prevention Program providing services statewide.� Our goals coincide with the Department of Children and Families' objective number 5.4, which insures that individuals and communities receive the information and develop the skills necessary to prevent and treat substance abuse. Additionally, Informed Families supports objective number 5.2, which calls for the strengthening of linkages and coordination between substance abuse and the family safety system. |

||
To fully implement and expand the drug abuse prevention and education program for children and their families the following services will be provided: Expand Community Action Teams (CAT) locally and statewide to involve community groups, organizations, students, parents and schools in drug abuse prevention initiatives. Expand initiatives and programs to recruit, educate and mobilize parents statewide. Promote and expand active parent networks and peer groups statewide. Distribute prevention information and materials statewide including the Red Ribbon Campaign and Safe Homes/Safe Parties. Expand Informed Families' Resource Center (distance learning and outreach center) to schools, families and community organizations statewide through computer networks and Informed Families' Web Site. Provide regional training on prevention strategies to all Florida Counties.� These activities will improve parent, school and community involvement in the reduction of alcohol, tobacco and other drug-use.� Improved family relationships will help Florida raise healthier drug-free children. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |

The effectiveness and impact of Informed Families of Florida's statewide expansion of grassroots education campaigns such as Red Ribbon and Safe Homes/Safe Parties will be measured through the number of participation forms completed, pledges received, web site activity, participation in new and ongoing parent groups, as well as participation in alternative activities and prevention materials distributed.� Last year this project provided services to approximately 6,819,285 adults and 1,433,253 youth in Florida. |
