In Hillsborough County there are 168,311 seniors who are 60 and over, 26,040 of whom are below the poverty level. The provision of adult day care, Alzheimer's respite care, congregate and home-delivered meals, and other support services for seniors, allows family members to continue their employment, rather than give up jobs in order to care for family members stricken with the disabilities of aging.Adult care costs range from $12,906 to $20,599 per year versus nursing home costs of $32,040 to $49,840 per year, resulting in annual savings of $11,448 to $36,934 per client.
