The Manatee Glen's Employment Project will provide a restorative, vocational center for severe and persistently mentally ill members.Through member participation in meaningful work activities, members prepare to enter the workforce. The Clubhouse will be self-contained, not attached to other mental health facilities.Through meal preparation for members, horticulture, office work, computer training, and educational activities, members learn to arrive at a regularly scheduled time and successfully learn to complete work tasks.Transitional employment will be offered for up to six months where a job is provided in community (often job shared). This is followed by supported employment and independent employment. The facility will provide adequate space for all of the above activities to occur, approximately 5,000 square feet. The goal is to enlist 100 members with attendance averaging 25 per day.The Clubhouse would operate Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Priority for this service would include: Discharges from hospital or residential treatment;Class members of the federal lawsuit or FACT team consumers; Those at risk of admission to state hospital, residential treatment, or crisis unit; Two staff and two prospective members will be trained at an approved International Center for Clubhouse Development site.
