| This project will provide support for the implementation of the recommendations of a municipal stormwater master plan that is intended to produce measurable results in nearshore water quality. Pursuant to the FKNMS Water Quality Protection Document (1996^, stormwater sources contribute about 21% of the total wasterwater/stormwater nitrogen and 44% of the total wastewater stormwater phsphorus loadings to the Santuary waters. In 1999, the Florida Legislature acknowledged the impacts associated with stormwater discharges to nearshore communities in the Florida Keys. |
