Project Description:
A.USF Sarasota/Manatee Campus Expansion: The 2002 Florida Legislature provided USF S/M $1,425,000 in planning and design funds for a new 96,000 gross sq. ft. facility to serve a campus expansion plan to meet the higher education needs of this region. First year construction funding (10,781,072) is requested to begin construction of the comprehensive facility and infrastructure for the state owned Crosley property. The new facilities will accomodate our plan to increase annual enrollment from 2,500 to 4,800 over the next five years. New enrollment will come from new programs and daytime classes. Currently, USF uses the classrooms primarily evenings and early mornings and New College of Florida uses them during the daytime. Students repeatedly ask for daytime options given today's 7/24 work schedules. The Crosley expansion provides a good plan for taxpayers by continuing USF/NCF joint use of the library, conference center, recreational spaces, and selected classrooms. The total project cost is $22,623,326 and was submitted to the Florida Board of Education as a part of the Three Year Capital Improvement Plan 2003-04/2007-08.
