Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
In 2001, 56 children were served; in 2002,160 children were served. Expanding number of weeks for summer camps and weekend residential camps will increase number of children served. It is anticipated that approximately 200 special needs children will be served in summer camps and approximately 60 special needs children will be served in weekend camps. Based on post-camp surveys completed by parents/caregivers, the children served demonstrated improvement in social skills, self esteem, and self confidence. These skills increase bonding with family and peers in school which improves overall performance.
