Project Description:
Establishment of a regional 211 call center, which will enable anyone needing to access health and human care services to do so by dialing a simple, three-digit phone number. The service will be available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Project will replace the existing "First Call for Help" services which now operate in separate areas of the state with different phone numbers and varying sources of information. 211 will allow for a streamlined system; whereas it is not uncommon for citizens now to make seven or eight phone calls in search of information and help, they would be served with a single number, uniform throughout the region. The project is targeted for statewide implementation in 2004.
