Legislation is being filed this session (see SB 1602 & HB 1457 from 2000 session) to create a Regional Cultural Facility Grant Program. Each facility that applies would be eligible for a $2.5 million grant as specified in the legislation. This grant program will fund large cultural facilities as well as state owned facilities for construction and renovation needs. The bill setting up the program passed the full House and Senate last session unanimously, but died on the last day due to time constraints. It creates a process by which facilities can receive state funds complying with the Governor's request for funding accountability.
