Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Designation for Lake County

Requester: Welton G. Cadwell, Chairman Organization: Lake County Board of County Commissioners

Project Title: Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Designation for Lake County Date Submitted 1/15/2003 2:56:31 PM

Sponsors: Cowin

Statewide Interest:
The Census Urban Area designation occurred in May 2002. The Lake County Board of County Commissioners would like to be a single MPO or a Lake/Sumter MPO. The new MPO will allow further local coordination over the use of Federal and State Transportation funding that is allocated for the new MPO area. In adddition, this will allow greater citizen participation in transportation programs. The Lake County Board of County Commissioners is requesting Legislative Language in F.S. 339.175 to support the designation for a Lake County area MPO.
