DEP Identfying Number: WW2002264

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
This system, if constructed, will provide a beneficial use for highly treated (reverse osmosis product)industrial waste water discharged during the 5- to 10-year closure period of the former Piney Point Phorsphoric Complex. The closure is being funded by FDEP with treated water currently discharged to Tampa Bay. The project area is in the Most Impacted Area of the Southern Water Use Caution Area (SWUCA) declared by SWFWMD. Beneficial use of the industrial waste water (estimated to exceed 1.2 billion gallons) for agriculture irrigation will conserve and protect the quantity of water in the stressed Floridan aquifer, which is currently being used for agriculture irrigation.
