Statewide Interest:
The project will provide a new central sewer service that will eliminate approximately 600 individual septic tanks which currently contribute to the water quality degradation of the northeast region of the Choctawhatchee Bay. The Bay is a SWIM Priority Waterbody in NWFWMD and it is on the 303 (d) List of Impaired Waters per Clean Water Act. The project would also reduce adverse pollution conditions for the Choctawhatchee Bay Shellfish Harvesting Area, specifically those areas of critical concern which have been identified in the Annual Reevaluation of Choctawhatchee Bay Shellfish Harvesting Area through June 2002, prepared by Florida Department og Agriculture and Consumer Services Division of Aquaculture.
