Statewide Interest:
The AICP meets statewide interest as it relates to Chapter 216.052 by saving the State of Florida an average of $9.21 for every $10.00 allocated to the program that would have been spent on public health care, (i.e., through the Medicaid Program) had the participants lost their private health insurance coverage. Concurrently, the AICP will provide all eligible Floridians diagnosed with HIV/AIDS with access to a haigh standard of health care through the participants' private health insurance coverage.

Project Description:
The AIDS Insurance Continuation Program (AICP) continues to pay for health insurance coverage including copayments and deductibles for Florida residents who are diagnosed with AIDS or are HIV Symptomatic and cannot afford their private health insurance premiums.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
It is anticipated that the AIDS Insurance Continuation Program will save the State of Florida $9.21 in health care costs for every dollar spent on the program. Between 1995 and 2001, the AIDS Insurance Continuation Program has saved the State of Florida over $159.6 million (net) in health care costs.
