Project Description:
Lake Sybelia and Lake Jackson are located in Section 36, Township 21 South, and range 29 east and is part of the Little Wekiva Watershed Basin. The proposal includes the construction of an off-line stormwater retention area in a plated residential lot between Lake Sybelia, and Lake Jackson. The retention area is expected to trap the stormwater polluntants flowing from a 19 acre sub-basin in Maitland and 60 additional acres in the Town of Eatonville. The purchase price of the lot was $190,000 in Fiscal Year 2001. Best Management Practices (BMP's) to be implemented may include: the development of a wetland and demostration area, lake irrigation and planting of wetland trees and beneficial aquatic plants. Educational signs will be posted along a nature trail with the purpose to inform visitors about the project and the types of BMP's they can use on their own landscpaes. The project includes design in FY 2003 (3rd and 4th Quarter) and construction in FY 2004. (Construction will be scheduled after October 2003).
