Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
(1) 48 families will be served by teams trained to work with the schools, provide one-on-one time with the child and provide respite and guidance for the parents in how to handle the child in crisis. The program is designed to allow timely discharge from the Children's Crisis Stabilization Unit, avoid expensive hospitalization and out of home placement. (2) Some of the children will not be able to immediately return to their home from the Crisis Unit, either because their illness is so severe or because the family needs to develop the skills to work with them. We will recruit four foster families trained to work with our most severely ill children. This is based on a model of service the Center already provides.
