| The MRC was created by the Florida Legislature to "substantially improve" the Miami River. MRC spearheaded the dredging project increasing the federal government cost share ratio to 80%. Other significant projects - development of downtown Riverwalk; initiated and completed the Miami River Corridor Urban Infill Plan; improve stormwater system; galvanize local, state, and federal support for the River. |

| MRC will continue river improvement projects including: dredging; development and construction of a Riverwalk/Greenway; implement the completed Miami River Corridor Urban Infill Plan; improve public safety; improve stormwater systems, seek grand funding for river improvement projects; provide river website for public education (see miamirivercommission.org); provide environmental education via Miami River Boat Tours for students and community based organizations; coordinate volunteer Miami River corridor clean-up efforts, etc. |
