Statewide Interest:
The CATE project is a model partnership between the health department and a community non-profit organization designed to assist low-income residents in obtaining adequate health assessments and screening. The project is part of the Community Health Protection Act, F.S. 381.1001 which was devised to assist DOH reach medically underserved populations that are overburdened by pollution and disease. The Acts other components reach into additional communities throughout the state and there is also a statewide advisory board.

This group assists low income people by providing health screenings and assessments.

Close to 2700 residents in the area have been identified as in need of these health assessments. So far about 700 have recieved thier exams; 200 are hoped to be reached this fiscal year.
