Statewide Interest:
By ensuring that basic services are available to sexual assault victims in Florida, this request ensures that victimization does not lead to further problems (such as mental illness, substance abuse, unemployment, or divorce) for the victim or the community. Therefore, by reducing the future negative impact on the community, these dollars serve as a preventative measure and allow Florida's citizens who have been victims of sexual assault to live healthy and productive lives.
