Project Description: |
South Florida Jail Ministries (SFJM), through the Agape Family Ministries, has provided effective addictions treatment, recovery services, and family restoration in Miami-Dade and adjacent Counties during the past twenty years. Agape Family Ministries plans to expand services on its present 9 acre facility. Agape recognizes the long-term recovery and stability from substance abuse, mental illness, criminality and homeleness requires alternative programming to the traditional models of treatment and rehabilitation. Currently, Agape's Outpatient Services are operating in a temporary facility. Agape Family Ministries will continue to operate as a nonprofit, and non-sectarian provider of services offering unique treatment approach of state of the are, gender specific services to underserved females.
Agape Family Ministries is requesting capital dollars in the amount of ($450,000) to allow adjunct construction of an Outpatient therapeutic and training center. By having moved outpatient to the home location, services are being administered in a more cost effective manner. Furthermore, having both functions at the same location will minimize issues of security and safety. Anticipated expanded services would increase group therapy sessions and aid us in our ability to offer vocational training to our current clients. The reassignment of current residential space could be utilized to provide expanded parenting training and family development education to the women with children.
Agape has been successful in blending the efforts of state government, local agency, and grassroots community involvement in providing effective programming that reaches underserved populations in the community. These programs provide effective counseling therapy, which significantly reduce the likelihood of relapse and re-offense. |
