Statewide Interest: |
The Wewahitchka Branch of the Gulf County Health Dept. was constructed in the 1950's Since then, it has been remodeled to accomodate a dental clinic, but still lacks space and amenities to ensure the clients safety and confidentiality information. All avenues for expansion have been explored and no further improvements can be made to the existing building. In the past, Gulf County has been faced with catastrophic blows to the economy suffered when major employers (Florida Coast PaperCompany, A & N Railroad, St. Joe Paper Woodlands Division) closed their doors. Many who before were covered by group health insurance are no longer covered by any. This need has been long recognized by state and local Government as well as civic and church leaders. A new building would boost employee moral, enhance job performance and would ensure that clients felt secure in the environment and the services they would receive. To meet the growing health care needs of the community, the Wewahitchka branck of the Gulf CHD must be able to expand and diversify. |

The ability to meet all requests for health care services to the public in a modern comfortable setting. Increased morale and will provide relief from overcrowded conditions. Increase confidence will be felt in the community in the services they receive from a facility that is safe, contemporary, comfortable and spacious enough to prevent an unintended breach of confidentiality caused by too-close workstations.
