Project Description: |
The Zero Exposure Partnership (ZEP), in pilot FY04, provides substance use Screening, Assessment, Referral and Treatment (SART) to any pregnant woman in participating obstetrician or health clinic offices. A simple screening instrument, the 4P's plus, is administered to the pregnant women by medical staff. A positive screen/assessment initiates a referral to a ZEP staff member who 1) provides early pregnancy education that includes the effects of ATOD on the fetus; 2) provides linkage to gender specific substance abuse treatment programs for comprehensive assessment, intervention and treatment services; 3) provides linkage and coordination between treatment and the obstetricians; and 4) gathers data for evaluation. |
