Ch. 381.00325.

Project Description:
The Community-based Hepatitis Intervention Project (C-HIP) is collaboration between the County Health Department(s) and Hep-C ALERT, to provide viral hepatitis education, counseling, testing and vaccination services at substance abuse treatment sites serving 400 or more high-risk adults. Funding provides for project expenses including nursing, counseling and support staff. The answer for question 13 shown as a local match is actually the value of test kits received from the DOH.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
C-HIP raises awareness and concern of viral hepatitis; increases early detection and medical attention for chronic hepatitis C infection; prevents new hepatitis A and/or B infections through adult vaccinations and extends the reach of vital prevention and control services into the community's highest-risk adult populations. C-HIP is based on a highly effective model program developed by Hep-C ALERT.
