Project Description: |
Opened in February of 1999, the Center provides emergency shelter and comprehensive homeless services for up to 200 individuals and families for periods up to 60 days. The Center's services are organized around an intensive case management model that provides primary and mental health care, substance abuse prevention, intervention and treatment, vocational and employment services, child care, and a broad array of support services. Residents are referred by a community-wide "524-BEDS" phone hotline, medical and human services agencies, and a special police outreach drop-off program, which provides homeless individuals on the street an alternative to incarceration for minor infractions. Behavorial Health is a critical component of the the Center's homeless program. The Center houses approzximately 1,350 individuals each year. Over 60% of these individuals have substance abuse issues, mental health issues or both. |
