The project will provide necessary traffic management for the Port of Tampa, which is Florida's largest seaport, and the largest economic engine in West Central Florida. Commerce generated by the Port impacts 108,000 jobs and generates an annual economic impact of $13 Billion.

Project Description:
The VTIS is an Internet & Intranet-based software system which will support automated data collection, analysis and distribution of specific vessel tracking information for all Port of Tampa stakeholders, facility managers, vessel operators and the traffic management cadre. The system will integrate specific surveillance and information systems to enhance vessel navigational safety and port security.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
An overall increase in the efficiency of moving vessels into and out of the port; an enhancement in the safety of moving hazardous cargo. Port security will be enhanced by a more efficient exchange of crucial information between stakeholders.
