Project Description: |
The FSRDF will create a network that provides necessary support and assistance that allows and empowers rural communities to determine their own future through cohesive collaboration and coordination among but not limited to federal, state, local tribal governments, private for profit and not for profit organizations, educational agencies, and economic development organizations. State dollars are required in order to match federal dollars available through United States Department of Agriculture. These funds have been appropriated since 1993 to the Florida State Rural Development Council through various state agencies, most recently to the University of Florida/ Institute of Food and Agricultural Services. The Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 requires that these funds be allocated to State Councils which have transitioned to non-profit. |
