Project Description:
The Specialized Parent Training Program is designed specifically for parents of juvenile offenders committed by the Courts to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. The program shall provide a series of three (3) interactive workshops to provide education and practical training for parents utilizing research-based techniques of managing children who exhibit criminal behavior; who are significantly exposed to environmental dysfunction (family, community, etc.); who commit detainable delinquent offenses; and who are committed to the programs of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. The program shall be provided on-site at locations, dates, and times conducive to maximizing parent(s) attendance and participation. Parents participating in the program shall be responsible for associated fees of the Specialized Parent Training program, not to exceed $250.00 per juvenile committed to the Department of Juvenile Justice. In electing this option, the courts could waive, in part or in its entirety, the statutorily mandated daily !?cost of care!? fees which currently range from $0 up to $5 per day per juvenile committed to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
-15 on-site locations for Specialized Parent Training shall be selected statewide for convenience of participating parents -10 Specialized Parent Training Workshop series (3-session series) shall be conducted at each site location (150 total workshops) -2,500 parents of juveniles committed to the Department of Juvenile Justice shall be served per year (Avg each year -80% of Parents Attending Workshops Shall Be Very Satisfied with Training and/or Technical Assistance Received
