Project Description: |
This project, approved by the Governing Board of SWIFTMUD, implements the goals identified in the Crystal River/ King's Bay SWIM Plan; goals established to address issues related to water quality, water clarity, recreation, fish and wildlife and nuisance vegetation. Specific issues emphasized in the SWIM Plan concern the decreasing water clarity through increased loadings of suspended solids and the proliferation of Lyngbya sp. throughout King's Bay. Proposed projects highlight diagnostic studies designed to evaluate factors leading to the declines in water clarity and native plant communities, and stormwater treatment projects to service development implemented prior to state stormwater regulations. Results of the diagnostic studies will be utilized to develop effective strategies for improving water clarity and for reducing the spread of Lyngbya sp. in King's Bay. |
