Since its inception, TMA has been an important cultural and educational resource for the Tampa Bay area. Each year, an average of 80,000 people participate directly in TMA's activities and projects, including visitors, school groups, program participants, outreach program participants, artists, and volunteers. The new, fully-accessible facility will make TMA a state-of-the art venue for world class exhibitions, a cultural center for the community, region, and state, and a premier destination for a variety of educational and entertainment experiences.

Project Description:
The Tampa Museum of Art, a department of the City of Tampa, has been recommended by the Florida Arts Council, Division of Cultural Affairs, to receive a Regional Cultural Facilities grant of $2.5 million to assist in the construction of a new and greatly expanded museum facility and exterior Art Park, which will be a focal point of the City of Tampa's new downtown cultural district. The new museum facility will triple the size of the current building, enabling TMA to transition to a greatly expanded organization, with significantly greater levels of programming, services, and resources for its visitors and the regional community. The new, fully-accessible facility will make TMA a state-of-the-art venue for world class exhibitions, a cultural center for the community, region, and state, and a premier destination for a variety of educational and entertainment experiences.
