Project Description: |
We are seeking $800,000 to purchase the Heron. Ownership will ensure long term sustainability of the Heron. The Heron is a fully licensed ALF subject to all the State regulations. Our programs are the only permanent providers of supportive housing for those disabled due to severe and chronic mental illness in Monroe County. The State of Florida has also licensed the Heron as a limited mental health facility. The current price, to the Fellowship, for the Heron building and grounds is $800,000, and the replacement cost is estimated to beover $2,200,000 due to the high cost of living and construction in the Keys. Current lease is $4,500 a month not including insurance, which may increase next year. Ownership of the Heron would make the Fellowship eligible for far more grant opportunities by virtue of having total site control, as well as having assets upon which we could borrow if necessary. Ownership will remove a substantial financial burden. To put this in perspective, the one time cost of $40,000 per disabled person would help to insure a truly permanent home and family for the disabled of Monroe County. |
