Project Description:
Project Embrace Inc. provides Home Improvement and Emergency Home Repairs to frail elders and caregivers of elders residing in Miami-Dade County. The program give preference to low-income elderly with the greatest need. The home repairs are also targeted to decrease the elder's risk of institutionalization and increase their ability to live independently. The repairs typically address safety or health hazards which include ramps, doors, widening doors, broken water lines, toilet backing up, leaky roofs, rotted floors, code violations, etc. Services are offered countywide targeting low income minority neighborhoods. Constant review of the analysis of information and referrals from community agencies and the projects waiting list also that the economic decline is increasing in many non-predominantly minority neighborhoods. These neighborhoodd are also demanding Housing Improvements and Emergency Repair services.

70% of frail elders who receive these services will improve their environmental risk score on the Department of Elder Affairs assessment tool. 70% of the caregivers of elders will continue to provide care after receiving services.
