Statewide Interest:
The restoration of the upper Peace River watershed has been identified as a critical component to restore the Peace River watershed and Charlotte Harbor, an estuary included in the National Estuary Program. The need to restore and protect this important SWIM-designated water body is paramount. Furthermore, the project would improve water quality for the Peace River/Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority, which is projected to serve over 300,000 people. Will also help meet the minimum flow and level for the Upper Peace River.

Project Description:
Any state funds received would be used for the design, construction, and maintenance of large regional system of treating water discharging into the Upper Peace River from Lake Hancock, water quality monitoring efforts, wetland restoration projects, and seagrass mapping and to measure water storage at Lake Hancock.
