Project Description:
The East Tampa community is centrally located near the intersection of I-4 and I-275, which is currently under construction. The location of this community is highly visible from the interstate and is key to the first overall impression that visitors traveling these busy interstates will see. Several years ago, this area was designated a "Front Porch Florida" community by Governor Jeb Bush. This area is also currently under revitalization by a Department of Housing and Urban Development's HOPE VI housing initiative. The community is also within the City of Tampa's revitalization initiative area. Specifically, this project will provide beautifications and improvements, including fencing in the vicinity of North Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and North 22nd Street in Tampa. Street lighting, street signs, traffic signs, and paver-defined crosswalks for pedestrian safety would also be included. Additionally, the project will include landscaping and portals to theses major arteries and transportation corridors.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Outcomes for this project will include increased safety for pedestrians. Proper street lighting will assist in the decrease of illegal activities in the area. Therefore, a small business corridor can develop without concerns for residents' personal safety. 50% increase in small business development 50% decrease in criminal activity 75% decrease in vehicular and pedestrian accidents
