Project Description: |
A mental health and substance abuse program for youth under the age of 18 identified by the Department of Juvenile Justice and assessed and classified as low to high risk for public safety. The program will provide an array of comprehensive services including mental health and substance abuse evaluation and treatment; counseling; family therapy; crisis intervention; suicide prevention, etc.
The program will focus on early intervention and prevention. Its aim is to divert youth, especially those in the inner-city, from being committed to long-term involvement with the criminal/juvenile justice system.
Participants who sucessfully complete the program will be able to lead socially acceptable lifestyles, reducing the expenditure of funds that would have been needed for long-term commitment. |
